3/22/04-Our dog made a noise in the middle of the night an upchuck sound that gave us such a fright on with the lights we arose from sleepers' dream flights to see what was the matter the beast eating grass and having throat spasms a mom spied through windows cleaning an office waiting the mind returns to images so suddenly disrupted whataburger crew talking through microphones and speakers glimpsed my first gecko of the new spring season still up then for dawn's early bright the doves and grackles fill the air with their excited prehistoric mourning chatter like nasa engineers all space time but a bundle of string played by a master musician till each strand sings hugely fat lady serving and I hope she doesn't have a part in the opera the coffee water hot the kettle on the boil shrieks its alarm oh save us super patriots from whatever might harm I was off to get a puppy all in readiness have you been to roswell new mexico digestive juices roiling my angry bile flowing I expected she'd be for awhile disconsolate a half-grown earwig crossed the tile so suddenly wrenched from parents and family I'm not understanding the conversation right shoulder tightening in pain old person's body with a yet youthful brain darkened tea-stained teeth I wonder if chewing tobacco company ust is a good investment dumpy parents with an adult retarded child the urine stream's too yellow kidneys dying again how to make twenty-five percent a year almost hearing I'm driven soaring roaring like a rocket along highway ravines vegetarianism has its place might try it once more near collisions like feared feelings about to be faced am I a crow or a man are my signals merely shorted or am I all these things now to see is perhaps not to be...




3/2/04-Staring hubbub of urban metrosphere laws different objects may not occupy the same space at the same time loaded vehicles impacting thrown about everyone seems alright until violent screaming this young mother's infant is not breathing watching for any hint of movement any flicker of pulse no I attempt in a rush to blow through blue lips a puff of air into a tiny chest then another but I see his head's flopped over now the neck already broken sirens his eyes open pupils dilated vacant irremediable oh horror horror horror...
