8/20/07-Pain varied vague or acute soft crooning loving call lukewarm vittles twice in a row patrons too large to fit in a normal booth spicy hot salsa heather mug of thick java hurricane dean devastation st. george island cold elephant seals mutated or infected toenail ridged and warped when you have a sure thing run with it rocks in a mountain stream trout flash of filet and fin halfway twixt obsessive compulsion and schizophrenia dental erosion dream play tortilla chips ice water tall shady pecan trees needing a new identity body work remembering to watch the face a mask of muscle tensions that persist being with the discomfort surveying its geography puff waiting at home suppose we cannot return perhaps best to leave her kennel open in the play of light and breeze over the leaves advance hints of fall money the lucky make it easily as breathing how will the world end we shall not know ours shall not after all be the cause merely a ripple on the surface a small passing as an upwelling from the spring before another million gallons in the next moment pushes the flow along a bit of carapace left in the sand our plastics and alloys long remaining after us enjoy this there is nothing else...




8/14/07-In literature and our personal stories there are often enough second chances the power of redemption but in the realities of life on this planet it is best to get it right the first time on some world where the green skies purple oceans and orange forests are peopled by folks very like us except that they are quite blue it happened that the seams of coal had already turned to thick layers of diamonds as abundant as clay perfect in every way and that by a fluke natural gas and oil were all hidden beneath miles deep deposits of salt and so remained undiscovered till after water wind and solar power ran virtually everything on that sphere it happened that living trees were considered divine and not cows so the little bit of wood burning was only from ones that fell on their own having first turned a pale shade of violet the blue people lived long but had only one or two lavender children every hundred times their world went about their sun thus it was that nature there was allowed to remain natural the orb's air was mostly unaltered and a fine balance persisted for not merely a few thousand but millions of years...
