Disclaimer - IMPORTANT - Read this first!
Investor's Journal is a diary focused strictly on investments and personal finance issues, primarily from a contrarian and retiree point of view. Follow along with an average guy's failures and successes as he learns, by trial and error, the fine art of value investing.

11/12/22- There have been significant redemptions since the last entry: all our shares of ACCO, APA, EGLE, ITOS, MRO, RIO, RSP, SB, SNAP, SWBI, SXC, VBR, VIR, VOO, VTV, WU, and XLV. New purchases included shares of ABNB, ALNY, ASTL, BEAM, BILL, BVH, CELH, DDOG, GOOGL, HUBS, NET, QQQ, SNOW, STC, TTD, VB, and VRTX.

Thus our updated basic 25 holdings are: ABNB, ALNY, ASTL, BEAM, BILL, BVH, CELH, CRWD; DDOG, GOOGL, GPI; HUBS, NET, PICK; QQEW; QQQ, SNOW, STC, TTD, VB, VIOO; VRTX, VTI; WIRE; and ZBRA.

The portfolio is on target to at least attain our total 2022 dividends goal of $58,320. (Our intention continues to be that the amount of total portfolio dividends increases yearly by at least 8%, from the latest base amount, $50,000, in 2020.)

Total liquid assets, at $1,798,641, are up $126,892 or 7.59% from their level on 10/19/22. The total nest egg is now worth $2,299,481, still down 12.63%, or $332,456, from its value at the end of 2021.

We cannot know if the gains since last month in the overall market as well as in our portfolio are the beginning of a new bull market or represent simply substantial ongoing volatility in a bear market which has farther to fall. Being cautious at my stage of life, I have taken a few profits and raised our reserves plus bond assets to 19.18% of total liquid holdings. I continue, though, to invest a small percentage on a regular basis in equities, anticipating that in the long run this approach will help us buy more shares when prices are lower, fewer when they are higher, having the effect of each our assets being bought at a relative bargain.

Disclaimer and Disclosure Statement
Much as I'd love it to be otherwise, I receive no payment of any kind for disseminating investment information unless, by some fluke, millions of folks, on the strength of these entries, start buying shares of stock I own, a possibility only slightly less likely than our being destroyed by a large meteorite. Do not follow any suggestions made in Investor's Journal as if I were a professional.

Neither I nor Investor's Journal will be responsible for losses by anyone who obtained ideas from this site.

This diary is intended for personal interest and general information only. You are advised to do your own research (as well as to consult highly compensated professionals) before spending money on anything.

I know of no reason anyone should take my financial musings seriously. At best I am a dedicated amateur providing a bit of investment-related insight and entertainment, at worst an amusing diversion.

My wife, Fran, and I may at times own shares of some of the assets mentioned here. But neither of us receive any benefit from reference to them, unless you count the mutual misery when we get it wrong, or the opportunity to gloat when we get it right.
