11/16/03-Roadrunner seen from the back of a hayride wagon near waco bobbing for apples at a birthday party in falls church when seven eating vienna sausage sandwiches on the playground at a country school outside omaha at age nine aquariums algae colorful guppies and the sun slanting through with bubbles gleaming eyelash irritation that won't go a whey curds and what are they a box of neat science instruments for a new band class sharon's bare nipples inviting first teenage touch rabbits small brown and white like the patches of ground and melting snow near our big old house in new york state a pileated woodpecker on a nearby stump its hollow knocking heard for a mile or more shouting half-sliding on the ice and fast walking to the woolworth's store with linda wolverton on a winter night in downtown oneida...




11/4/03-A cool exotic drink for a parched man she appeared by my left elbow at the club's bar and ordered wine which she but sipped with full red lips that were opened to chat or smile revealing teasing white teeth her head and neck nefertiti regal elegant eyes full of laughter her form statuesque draped in a simple low-cut revealing blue gown that matched irises strikingly devilish an apparition too unblemished to be real she yet belied this impression as the evening progressed with breathy whispers in my ear frequent delicate touches on my arm to expressively emphasize her fascinating or humorous points I asked what she was called anastasia she said and followed this appellation with a musical sound I could only guess but never remember with a flirtatiously mock exasperation and glancing at me significantly she dashed off her full name and number and reaching over set the card down on the counter to my right next to my cap and coat then quickly bid me adieu and disappeared into the crowd and away I glanced at her note found the surname as yet intriguingly unpronounceable written in another language with an unfamiliar alphabet and still puzzling at the mystery paid my tab and left too late discovering bereft I did not have her card I rushed back to the club searched frantically made many embarrassing inquiries but it was merely gone as if her name her presence that evening the whole experience had simply never been yet I could still remember the moment poignant with audacious intimacy and trust an offering and promise how she'd leaned in her weight lightly resting upon me speaking softly already making love with me deeply searching my face her sheer garment concealing nothing her braless breast pressed against my chest...
