4/10/07-A glimpse of existence roused too early by thunder blood coursing a hundred million synapses interact their possible connections numerous as the stars birds chirping dog whining rush hour traffic the laundromat change machine does not work a mexican lady requests by gestures quarters for a dollar bill to make a pay phone call talks in spanish then drives off leaving soap and her family's dirty clothes walk the beast sitting again eyelids creeping down coffee cup straw broken mosquitoes big noisy as flies incessant background murmur of the news tendonitis smeared offal broken chicken bone dirty splint frances momentarily smiling efficient in her work religious tract deliverer doing her job stops by a pleasant interruption what is truth in dreams things may not be what they appear birthdays represent death and snakes life so too in ordinary waking states mocking laughter toot of horn human growth like migrating cranes' skyward climbs moves in rising spirals touching the same themes in ascending yet repeated circles...




4/7/07-Banana beer irish green so appreciated by most all of similarly temperate mien the current highlight hue here in the goldilocks regions a bit below the present diet target for nothing in particular I celebrate with an extra dessert self-serving and in any case am for all I know by a few extra pounds perpetually to cushion my midriff nearly a generation ago my brother ralph with a massive neoplastic brain growth enjoyed his final spring putting myself into his place except how could I with each glance beheld the exquisite new blooms that year as if they were the last I might see in time I forgot and forget the myriad mundane concerns or distractions like white noise filters screen out awareness the moment no longer precious became but a bridge to imagined ends and a projected future perhaps never actually to be we would hear but happy notes oregon coast how we still boast of our supposed bubble bag gloatful deeds for merely doing from one heedless minute to another with very like inevitability what seems natural with deep base rhythms the crash of vast swells upon the craggy shore they say soon it will be much drier here I wonder if there will yet be sufficient moisture for our weeping or if then one's sadness must be marked more stoically with only a mental tear...
