March, 2012: 21

3/21/12-Wed.-Have been having a lot of friction in my mystery group over the recent months, particularly with hostility from one older woman, April. I do not know if it is personal or simply the result of her age that she is tending to be more argumentative. Maybe it is due to a thwarted sense of control. She was a supervisor till she retired last spring, about when the increased frictions began. Perhaps she misses being in charge and so wants to show me who is boss by often finding fault. Do not know the cause, but the result is hardly pleasant. Our relationship had been quite cordial before, both of us having a good sense of humor, and this at times would encourage the others in the group toward a more playful attitude. Nowadays, however, the group as a whole is suffering from less lightness as April and I are relatively frosty toward one another, and often my attempts at kidding around fall flat. Do not know how best to deal with this. Bother!
